Key West nightlife has a reputation, and it earns it. The night starts with the sunset, rolls into a long dinner, and ends somewhere on Duval Street well after midnight. With two or three friends it is easy. With ten or twelve it turns into a coordination problem: who is where, who has the house key, and how does everyone get home.
This is how groups plan a night out on the island so the only thing anyone has to think about is the next stop.
How a Key West night usually runs
- Sunset: the nightly sunset celebration at Mallory Square, or a sunset sail from the harbor.
- Dinner: a long table somewhere in Old Town or on the water. Book ahead for big groups.
- Duval Street: the island's main nightlife strip, packed with bars and live music from end to end.
- Late night: the last stop, a slice of pizza, and the ride home.
Each of those stops is in a different spot, and that is where a group night starts to come apart.
The Duval Street bar crawl, with a group
Duval Street runs roughly a mile and a quarter across the island, from the Gulf side to the Atlantic. A crawl along it sounds walkable, and in sneakers it is. In heels, in the summer heat, with a group that keeps stopping, it is a long way, and the group almost always splits up somewhere in the middle.
The groups that enjoy it most pick three or four stops in advance, agree on a time to move on, and have a ride ready for the long stretches, so nobody walks back alone or gets left in the bathroom line.
Why one vehicle beats rideshares at night
Twelve people need three or four rideshares. They arrive at different times, at least one driver cannot find the pickup spot, and at closing time every app on the island is surging. One Sprinter with an hourly chauffeur keeps the whole group together: the driver stays with you for the night, waits nearby while you are inside, and is at the curb when you are ready for the next stop.
For a celebration, our 12-passenger Sprinter limo turns the rides between stops into part of the party, with LED lighting, Bluetooth for your playlist, and a bar stocked with ice.
Getting everyone home safely
The most important ride of the night is the last one. With a chauffeur, nobody in the group has to drive, nobody has to be the one who stays sober, and nobody is left looking for a ride on their own at 2 a.m.
- Count heads before leaving every stop.
- Pick one meeting point in case anyone gets separated.
- Share the plan with the whole group, including the final pickup time.
Plan the night in one message
Send your transportation company the date, the headcount, where you are staying, and a rough plan for the night: sunset spot, dinner reservation, and how late you expect to go. That is enough to send the right vehicle and stage it at each stop.
